Is Technology-Assisted Review Supporting Attorneys or Replacing Them?
Will lawyers ultimately be replaced by computers? In recent months, the eDiscovery community has been increasingly vocal about the controversial notion of computers replacing attorneys for document review. Contrary opinions posit that automated methods may reduce cost, but they also yield inferior results. During this informal and persuasive webcast, ZyLAB’s Mary Mack will interview Maura R. Grossman and Gordon V. Cormack about how the results* of recent studies comparing manual review and technology-assisted review debunk the myth of the perfect manual review.
The speakers will provide insights into pursuing the best of both worlds: attorneys synthesizing skilled, iterative research on the facts and the law, with machine-assisted eDiscovery methods, to achieve proportionality, cost-effective, defensible searches, and better outcomes for clients. Johannes Scholtes, PhD, chief strategy officer for ZyLAB, will offer practical guidance on the use of eDiscovery tools for machine-assisted review and data reduction, automatic foreign language translation, and intelligent redaction, and how they can reduce costs and combat human error.
